New report, produced as part of the ‘Transforming UK Food Systems SPF Programme’ to explore the impact of Covid-19 across the UK food system, including food system resilience, lessons learnt and building back better.
The Resilience of the UK Food System in a Global Context (GFS FSR) research programme, launched in 2016 by the Global Food Security programme, has outlined multiple approaches to enhancing resilience in its final programme report.
This is the inaugural report from the ‘Transforming the UK food system for healthy people and a healthy environment’ SPF programme. The report maps and quantifies the UK food system and details the value of the agri-food sector and the multiple challenges it faces.

The Global Food Security (GFS) programme has published a new workshop report that highlights the risks and challenges of using alternatives to conventional pesticides in the food system.
Pesticides provide numerous benefits, yet pressures on their use has led to industry exploring other viable options for pest, weed and disease management. This report examines the challenges of using alternatives to conventional pesticides, and highlights future research priorities for biopesticides and Integrated Pest Management strategies.
